Our PhilosophyConcert

The Kumulipo maintains the theme of survival, urgency for life, and preservation, of all species with procreation and evolution as the sinew of the future. The Kumulipo is the reality of our dim past, the foundation for our present, and the pathway into the future. It is a cognizant reminder of our ancestors, their intelligence, failure, defeat, and conquest (Pualani Kanaka‘ole Kanahele, 1999). As with the Kumulipo, the Ke Ana La‘ahana Public Charter School fosters an understanding of cultural identify and awareness on an educational foundation that is cultural-based, family-based, and community-based in an environment of history and lineage from which a new perspective of education emerges.

A child is the product not only of the teachings of his/her immediate family but is also a product of the social interrelationships of his environment and community.
