Founded in the summer of 1990, the Edith Kanaka‘ole Foundation (EKF) is a cultural-based organization established by the offspring of the late Luka and Edith Kanaka‘ole. Founded on the vibrant traditions and rich cultural heritage of the Kanaka‘ole family, it is the Foundation's mission to heighten indigenous Hawaiian cultural awareness and participation through its educational programs and scholarships. EKF focuses on maintaining and perpetuating the teachings, beliefs, practices, philosophies and traditions of Edith and Luka Kanaka‘ole.

	Hälau O Kekuhi The Hälau O Kekuhi is the Hälau Hula and is the center of cultural knowledge and the most active fundraising entity for the Foundation. Hälau O Kekuhi is a traditional formal hula school known for its ‘aiha‘a or raw and bombastic style of dance characteristic of Hawai‘i island.

	Ke Ana La‘ahana Public Charter School Ke Ana La‘ahana Public Charter School fosters an educational movement that roots the child, family and community to their land base. This philosophy is further enhanced by the unique environment of Keaukaha.

	Sites The Edith Kanaka‘ole Foundation maintains several land sites in East Hawai‘i located in the Honohononui Ahupua‘a in the Hilo District on the island of Hawai‘i for hands-on education. Our projects are concerned with mälama ‘äina and mälama kai.
	Scholarships The Edith Kanaka‘ole Foundation scholarship program encourages and supports native Hawaiians towards higher educational opportunities.
